2 timer nord for Los Angeles ligger smukke Santa Barbara. Jeg havde endnu ikke selv været der men mine forældre har og sagde at jeg ville elske den lille spansk inspirerede by så, afsted med mig. Turen derop var skøn, svingende og der var smuk udsigt langt hen af vejen. Santa Barbara var ren og pæn med lave huse og en hyggelig shopping gade. Der var idyllisk og det var lige hvad jeg havde brug for. Et pusterum. Bevares, L.A er fantastisk, men den er også halv larmende, beskidt og fyldt med biler. Santa Barbara var noget helt andet. Midt i byen fandt vi denne fuldstændig betagende trappe. Jeg måtte bare få taget billeder på den, også selvom den var i fuld sol. Sådan noget kraftigt lys kan stadigvæk være lidt svært for mig at styre men det lykkedes heldigvis. Ellers skulle jeg have ventet hele dagen på at den kom i skygge for skydes, det skulle den.

english: 2 hours north of Los Angles lies the beautiful city of Santa Barbara. I hadn’t been there yet but my parents have and they said I would absolutely love it so, away I went. The ride up there was gorgeous as expected. The roads were curvy and the view was spectacular most of the way. Santa Barbara was beautiful, clean and heavily influenced by spanish culture. Yum! It was just what I needed, a breather. I mean, L.A is amazing no doubt but it’s also noisy, dirty and filled with cars. Santa Barbara is just the opposite. In the city center we found this beyond amazing set of stairs. I just HAD to get my photos taken on these steps even though the sun was coming down hard. I have to admit I still have trouble sometimes controlling harsh light like this but I managed. Luckily, otherwise we would have had to wait all day for the sun to move because I had to shoot on these stairs!

Første stop, is – er jeg den eneste? Min super checkede og mega seje assistent Isabella havde set de her sorte valfer på instagram og befalet at jeg skulle tage derhen når jeg kom til L.A. For pokker hvor var det den lange køre tur indtil downtown værd! På hjørnet af snavset og støjende lå dette lille ternede drømmeland. Familie ejet is butik med is til både de lactose intolerente og veganerne. Oh og de der sorte vafler, SÅ seje! Jeg prøvede deres almond charcoal med oreo stykker på, det var fantastisk og så er stedet super instagram venligt. Du burde seriøst overveje at svinge forbi denne lille perle hvis du befinder dig i Los Angeles.

english: First stop, ice cream – am I right? My über cool and upbeat assistant Isabella had seen these black cones all over instagram and told me I had to go check it out when I touched down in L.A. My goodness was it worth the drive into downtown. On the corner of noisy and loud was this little checked dream of a place. Family owned ice cream shop with both lactose free and vegan friendly options to choose from. And those pitch black super cool cones, SO awesome! I tried the almond charcoal with oreo bits on top, it was amazing – and such a instagram friendly place. In love! You absolutely must swing by if you are in Los Angeles.

Det er vidunderligt at være tilbage, solen bager, palmerne svajer og det hele ligner på en måde sig selv. Tænk hvor heldige vi er at leve i en tid hvor det er så nemt at rejse så langt. I dag har vi vandret i Beverly Hills og hængt ud på Rodeo Drive! Håber alt er dejligt hjemme i DK!

En kaffe og en croissant kan gøre meget. Det lykkedes mig at lokke Laura med ud i lufthavnen på en lørdag morgen, hvilket er lidt urimeligt. Særligt fordi hun slet ikke skulle med ud og flyve, hun skulle bare tage billeder af Sebastian og jeg. Se dét er ægte venskab. Ville nu ønske hun også skulle med! MEN – i dag er det Sebastians fødselsdag og det fejre vi lige med en 16 timers rejse, hurraaa!! Vi spiser sgu en Othello i flyveren, mindre kan ikke gøre det. Er de forresten ikke bare alt for fede de her kufferter?! Jeg er vild med dem, de giver mig lidt lyst til at købe en hat med en solsikke i, måske jeg finder en i LA. I må have en fantastisk lørdag – i høre fra mig igen når jeg er kommet på plads i dejlige USA. Husk i kan følge med på snappen @mariajernov. God weekend!

english: A cup of coffee and a croissant can work wonders. I succeeded in luring Laura out of bed on a Saturday morning so she could take pictures of me and Sebastian before boarding. Even though she wasn’t even going anywhere herself. See that is friendship. Wish she was going to LA too! BUT – today, is Sebastians birthday and we are celebrating by taking a 16 hour trip – hurraa! We will eat a big cake on the plane, less won’t do it! Btw – what do you think of the luggage? I can’t get enough of it, I think they are soooo cool! They kinda get me in the mood to buy a straw hat with a sunflower in it, maybe I will find one in LA. Have one amazing Saturday and I will check back with you when I have settled in. Juhu! Endelig er jeg (næsten) pakket og klar til at komme afsted. Los Angles, nu kommer jeg hjem! Det er åbenbart ret varmt derovre lige nu så jeg glæder mig så meget til at gå i nederdele, shorts, kjoler og korte ærmer. Hurra! Solcremen er pakket, polaroid kameraet er med, en god hat, sandaler, solbriller osv osv – check check check. Oh og nå ja – mine kufferter denne gang er solgule! OMG de er så fede, jeg glæder mig til at vise jer dem. Vi skal flyve med WOW air for første gang, jeg glæder mig så meget til at stige ombord på et pink fly, så sejt! english: Yes! Finally (almost) packed and ready to roll. Los Angeles, I am coming home baby! It quite warm at the moment in L.A so I am very excited about wearing shorts, skirts, dresses and short sleeve anything. The sunscreen is packed, polaroid camera – check, a good hat, sandals, sunnies and so on and so on. Oh and my luggage is yellow as the sun this time! Just wait till you see, they are awesome. We are flying with WOW air tomorrow, it will be my first time boarding one of those pink airplanes and I can’t wait. If you don’t know them yet check out their instagram @wowair. Nu har i gættet det, det er jeg sikker på! Hollywood forever, oh yes! På lørdag flyver jeg til Los Angeles med min kære mand som en lille påske get-away. Jeg glæder mig fuldstændig sindsygt meget – L.A er mit heaven on earth, jeg elsker at være der. Jeg fyldes med sådan en helt ekstraordinær ro når jeg lander, som om alle brikkerne lige falder på plads inden i mig. AH! Det bliver så godt at komme tilbage. Drømmer om at bo der en dag. Vi skal mødes med en masse søde venner derovre, lave nogle lækre guides, spise en masse mad og få en masse sol i skærmen. Jeg kan næsten ikke vente!

english: Now you must have guessed it, I am sure of it. Hollywood forever, oh yes! This Saturday me and my man are flying to Los Angeles for a little easter get-away. I am beyond excited – L.A is my heaven on earth. I just love it there. I get in some sort of extraordinary state of calm when I land, it’s like all the pieces inside me just fall into place. I dream about living there one day. We are going to meet up with some of our sweet friends over there, do some amazing guides, eat tons of yummy food and get tons of sun in the face. I can hardly wait!

Kan i gætte hvor jeg skal hen næste gang? Til det store røde, blå og hvide! Mit yndlings land, også det land som indholder nogle af mine absolut favorit makeup brands i verden. Som en lille opvarmning til min kommende tur har jeg samlet nogle favoritter fra mine amerikanske favorit mærker som jeg nedenfor giver en lidt mere detaljeret forklaring på. Glæder mig til at dele min tur med jer!

english: Can you guess where I am going next? The big red white and blue! My favorite country, also a country that holds some of my absolute favorite brands in the world. I have gathered some of my favorites from my favorite american brands (that was a lot of F’s) – as a small warm up for my upcoming trip. I look forward to sharing my trip with you!

Essie

This one you know, I am sure of it. Hands down one of the absolute best nail polish brands in the entire world. It’s not “just” the product that makes it so special to me it’s also the color range. You can get absolutely any color you might like, everything you imagine you want is already made and right there for you. Growing up as a beauty craving teenager I couldn’t get enough Essie and now that I am in my 20’s, well it hasn’t really changed. Here are some of my current favorites;

Anastasia Beverly Hills

That highlight tho! Oh yes, Anastasia’s glow kits took the world by storm when they were first launched and mine too. I have used up several and is now getting started on their newest launch “the ultimate glow kit”. I can tell that this one is going to be just as much a favorite as the other ABH glow kits.

Kiehl’s

Kiehl’s is still a new brand to me, I have only used it for about a year but it keeps surprising me. When you find a good moisturizer it kinda just gets stuck with you doesn’t it? No need to look any further, it’s just there for you. Through bad skin and good skin, sunburn and winter dullness. Well here is mine, for better and for worse!

Maybelline

Maybelline is known for many iconic products, it’s a brand I have used all my life. I think most girls my age has used Maybelline all their life, it’s just a part of growing up in the 00’s I would say. Probably older generations too, but I will only speak for my own. My favorite products within the Maybelline family is their lipsticks. Not only are the formulas amazing (doesn’t matter if it’s creamy, glossy or matte – they are all great) but also their color range. You can find any color you could ever dream of! Some of my favorite shades at the moment are these;

Marc Jacobs

I love it when a great fashionhouse spits out an amazing makeup brand. It kinda brings it all so nicely together. Being a bit more classic than the otherwise sometimes wacky fashion brand, Marc Jacobs beauty has launched many great products. I keep coming back to their velvet noir mascara. It’s just great, thats all.

NYX

Ah yes NYX. What more is there to say? It just rocks! I have loved it ever since I first tried it in America and was just longing for it to hit Denmark, and when it did – oh pure joy. So much imagination, so much fun and oh so good. The products are just so great, long lasting and well thought out. I also love their price range, so friendly to everybody who loves makeup! The lip liners at NYX was my first love affair with the brand so here you go – you are welcome;

Mario Badescu

Another great pharmacy brand that came out of New York, Mario Badescu is an oldie but a goodie. Being quite the sensitive ginger, I have always been careful with what I use on my face. Mario Badescu is gentle yet effective. This buffering lotion has saved my face from lumps and bumps many times.

SEEING BLUE | MASHA MA AW17

Jeg er besat med blå lige for tiden, er også besat med farverige eyeliners og seje lokker. Arbejder på lige nu at lave et look som kan matche Masha Ma’s vilde verden, det er ikke så nemt som man tror. Altså hvor jeg beundre de seje makeup dare devils. De udstråler så meget sej energi! Håret og makeuppen ved Masha Ma’s show i Paris var prop fyldt med inspiration, det var bare at åbne øjnene og suge til sig! Der var alt lige fra stærkt farvede eyelinere til bløde bærfarvede læber og bare ansigter. Elskede også hvordan de brugte meget model agtige piger (du ved hvad jeg mener) men også ret utraditionelle piger som havde piercinger og farvet hår. Jeg har samlet lidt produkter lige nedenunder alt det her bla bla bla så du kan blive inspireret endnu mere til dette farverige univers. God fornøjelse!

english: Current obsession, blue – also current obsession colored eyeliner and cool locks. I am currently working on developing a super cool look inspired by Masha Ma, but to be honest, it’s not that easy. Ahh how I admire the makeup dare devils. So much cool energy flowing from those vibrant colors! The Masha Ma hair and makeup was super inspiring during Paris Fashionweek, so much edge. From the bold eyeliners to pouty berry lips and bare faces. Also loved how they both used very model looking models (you know?) to more unconventional girls with piercings, colored hair and a fierce appearances. I have gathered a series of products below all this bla bla bla for you to get inspired to try more bold colors yourself! Enjoy!

Jeg kan næsten dufte forår, sikke et fantastisk vejr vi har haft de sidste par dage i København. I dag er det lidt tungt og gråt udenfor så jeg kan slet ikke lade være med at dele disse sol svøbte billeder Laura og jeg tog i weekenden. Jeg styler meget skjorter udover t-shirts for tiden og er ret forelsket i den her rød på sart pink kombination. Jeg elsker hvordan en helt almindelig skjorte kan bruges på så mange måder. Støvlerne har været en rigtig “head turner” – jeg ELSKER dem! Føler mig som Julia Roberts i Pretty Woman, selvom hendes var sorte. Med hæl er jeg sikker på. En del har spurgt indtil om det mon var bukser? Ej hvor kunne det være sejt hvis de var, bukse støvler i lak – ja tak!

english: I can almost smell spring, what incredible weather that has been in Copenhagen these past days. Today it’s gloomy outside but I can’t help but post these sunny photos Laura and I took this weekend. I am styling shirt over t-shirt a lot these days and I love this red and light pink combo. I love how a regular fitted shirt can be styled so differently. The boots have been a real head turner – I adore them! I feel just like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, even though her’s were black. And had a heel, I think. Some people have asked me if they are pants, my god I wish! How awesome would a pair of pant boots in patent be?! YUM!

HOW I STAY HEALTHY DURING TRAVEL

At rejse kan virkelig slide på immunsystemet. Når nogen hoster på flyet, hvor bliver de bakterier så af? De ryger lidt rundt i luften og videre til den næste. Ad. Det er meget vigtigt for mig at passe ekstra godt på mig selv når jeg rejser fordi jeg er et af de der mennesker som bare ret nemt bliver syg, får uren hud og/eller bliver unormalt træt. Jeg forsøger altid at spise sundt når jeg rejser men lad os lige være helt ærlige, det er fanme svært. Hvor mange gange har jeg ikke stået i en lufthavn hvor det eneste mad der var, var en slatten, oversmurt, ulækker sandwich eller en smattede “salat”. Der er ikke tal på hvor mange gange. Nogengange er der også kun chips og slik. WTF? Disse ting er nogle jeg normalt vil tage med mig når jeg rejser. Ved godt det er ret meget men det er super vigtigt! Jeg er så forelsket i de her små rejsestørrelse vitamin pulvere. Så smart at man lige kan hælde lidt green protein i sin smoothie eller tilføje lidt flere chia frø. De passer lige i tasken! I kan læse om alle de forskellige vitaminer via linket ovenfor. Jeg må dog lige fremhæve Vita Viva’s craving crusher. Når jeg har haft en super lang dag vil jeg ofte gerne bare tilbage på hotellet og spise noget sødt eller salt og disse hjælper virkelig til at jeg ikke over snacker når jeg rejser. Det er genialt!

english: To travel can really tear on the imune system. Someone coughs on the plane, where does those germs go? Around in the system and on to the next one. Ew. It’s super important for me to really take care of myself when I travel as I am one of those individuals that easily gets sick, breaks out and/or become abnormally tired. I try to eat healthy while on the go, but lets be honest, that’s not always so easy. I can’t tell you how many times I have been standing in an airport where the only thing available was a soft, flobby sandwich or a greasy “salad”. Sometimes nothing at all, just chips and candy. WTF? These items are what I will normally bring with me when I travel. I adore the little travel size powders, it’s so easy to just pop in some green protein or add some extra chias when having a smoothie. They fit right in your purse. You can read about the different vitamins and what they do via the links above. I must point out one travel favorite though, the craving crusher by Vita Viva. When I have had a really long day on the go all I really want is just something sweet or salty so this craving crusher helps keep that little snag in the tummy in place so I don’t snack all the time. Brilliant.
