Fashion Week

Enjoy!

english: My favorites for Stockholm Fashionweek was quickly quite clear, and even though my original plan was to only show you one show I thought I would give you guys a little taste of the swedish designers. Here are my 3 favorite shows from Stockholm fashionweek plus a small explanation to go along with the photos. Enjoy!

STYLEIN

Japanese inspired collection with a swedish twist. Kimonos on fleek and loose fitted trousers with tie waist. Stylein offered Japanese tendencies with swedish embroidery, the flowers gave me flashbacks to my grandmas embroidered table cloths while the shapes gave me a strong desire to layer and dust of my minimalistic side. Beautiful and very wearable collection.

BUSNEL

Busnel has been a favorite of mine since my first months at ELLE where I came to know the brand. For me Busnel is affordable Scandinavian Chanel. It’s classic, great materials and beautiful shapes. This collection was no different. Iconic key styles with a twist and great styling. I was not disappointed, more Busnel please!

GRETA GRAM

Balenciaga meets Céline, very well made collection from Greta Gram with clear references to fashion powerhouses. For a SS collection there was a surprising amount of layering, a happy surprise I might add. The styling was strong and the models were shining. Succesful collection and one of the best shows I’ve seen so far.

english: I’m finally home after almost a whole week in Stockholm. Beautiful, lovely Stockholm, if you have never been, book a ticket now. It’s just a wonderful city. Laura and I saw a bunch of great shows, some better than others and besides that we have been around Stockholm. I am thinking of doing a guide to Stockholm, what do you think about that? Just a small one. This was my outfit on the first day of Stockholm Fashionweek. A bit more minimalistic than what I usually wear for fashionweek. The skirt, I made myself and the bag is Lauras. I am absolutely in love with these Pia Wallén cuffs, they just add something super stylish for this clean look. Be aware that they are quite small in size. Stay tuned for more Stockholm content over the next days!

Enjoy!

english: Balanced minimalism, what on earth is that? It’s quite rare that regular people understand “fashion language” – hell I don’t even always understand it and I listen to it all the time. But let me walk you through it. Balanced minimalism is the title of (and the key to) scandinavian style. In fashion language “Scandi cool” – so many expressions to learn, I know. I have in collaboration with Zalando written an article and made a video explaining this trend. How to get it, tips and tricks from some of my super cool blogger colleagues and of course, fun bloopers. You can find both the video and the article here. Enjoy!

Bravo.

english: There were quite a lot of shows during CPH Fashionweek this year and many good ones. Normally my favorite would be Lala Berlin or Henrik Vibskov, designers who both put on a hell of a show. But this year, another brand really took my heart and ran away with it. Lovechild 1979 held their show at the Glyptoteks garden right across from tivoli and even though it drizzled just a little it was truly breathtaking. Gauzy fabrics and delicate prints set the tone as the models floated over the gravel. Suddenly it felt like it was 25 degrees and the air smelled like elderflower. A very, very special collection (and experience) that deserves all the attention it’s gotten. Bravo.

english: Copenhagen Fashionweek is over and out, and what a mess it was. This season all the shows had been cramped into only two days so there were a new show every hour on a new location. I felt like I had my head blown off! My outfit on the first day was this leather skirt over a long shirt paired with military boots. I actually wasn’t supposed to wear this at all. The leather skirt came in the mail late the night before I was supposed to wear it and it was waaaaay to short (FUCK!). I had to come up with something else than what I originally had in mind for this skirt so I started searching my closet. Luckily I had this long shirt from Lovechild 1979 (a shirt I have basically lived in this summer) hanging in the back and I threw it on and sipped up the skirt. First just as a joke because I thought the whole situation was such a mess but then it actually turned out to look pretty cool! So I wore it and the rest is history.

Stay tuned!

english: This Wednesday it all happens again, fashionweek season is starting and I am (as usual) SO excited! Fashionweek is the best part of my job. If fashionweek did not exist I am not sure I would be in fashion. When I was younger I would get a tummy ache just thinking about seeing a fashionshow and I still do! Last year I was in Copenhagen, Stockholm, New York and Milan for fashionweek and this year I am going to Paris as well. I am so excited, remember to follow me on snapchat if you want constant updates from fashionweek! (mariajernov). Stay tuned!

Sportmax re-see of the AW16 collection

english: While I was in Milan for fashion week, Laura and I were around town visiting different brands to see (and touch) their latest collection / the collection that had just been on the catwalk. I was particularly looking forward to seeing the Sportmax collection because I’ve been a fan of theirs for long time but also because I thought the show was quite amazing this season. The collection came to it’s right in their impressive showroom and they deserve a standing applause for their accessories which were particularly strong this season. My favorite piece was the white sweater with the black details that I am wearing in the picture above. And then of course you have to be delusional if you were not crazy about their cool shoes! Well done Sportmax!

english: When Laura and I were in Milan, we were so fortunate to be able to visit the M Missoni showroom in the beautiful north-east Milan – for a chat and a view of their amazingly fine clothes. It was very inspiring and their sweet PR girls were just as colorful and bubbly as the clothes. This set will be my go-to set for spring and summer, I can already feel it – it is just as comfortable as sweat pants and then I absolutely love the way it moves. Forever giant fan of M Missoni!

The Jewellery room AW16

english: While I run around Milan from one show to another and don’t really have time to blog in between events, I wanted to share a little event with you from Copenhagen Fashion Week (diary is still missing, but coming!) During Copenhagen Fashion Week a jewellery event called the Jewellery room is held – it’s a fusion of the best jewellery brands in the industry mixed with delicious food, bubbles and good atmosphere. It is one of the events I personally look most forward to each season, I love to walk around in the beautiful room, and fall in love with one small jewellery universe after another – plus most of the goldsmiths or designers are present at event and it gives a special closeness that you don’t find in “regular” presentations during fashion week. I am already looking forward to next time, read more about the event here!
